The New England Affordable Housing Management Association (NEAHMA), celebrating its 35th year, announces the selection of Susan Gomes as its new Executive Director.
Gomes is a graduate of the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She began her career in Hospitality and Tourism Management, planning and executing mid-to-large social and corporate events. She later joined Beacon Residential Management, LLC, as a leasing consultant, and was quickly promoted to the position of Property Manager, specializing in affordable housing. In addition to property management, her enthusiasm for learning and training resulted in her onboarding new managers for the company. Gomes’ strength in implementing standard operating procedures and building relationships with new employees led to a promotion to Learning and Development Manager. In this position, she became the administrator of the learning management software, created job specific training curriculum, and coordinated the professional development and industry accreditation of staff, which included staff acquiring NAHMA designations. Most recently, Gomes expanded her financial expertise in Beacon’s accounting department which included supporting personnel with accounting related responsibilities.
Gomes is excited to start her new position as NEAHMA’s Executive Director stating, “I admire what NEAHMA has accomplished in the affordable housing industry within the last 35 years. I look forward to leading our mission by maintaining strong relationships with affordable housing agencies and providing quality training and education to our members. I believe the continuation of knowledge is the key to everyone’s personal and professional success.”
