End Hunger Connecticut is a statewide anti-hunger and food security organization. By focusing on advocacy, outreach, education and research, EHC! serves as a comprehensive anti-hunger resource for policymakers, community organizations, and low-income families. The work of EHC! is vital to the visibility and coordination of various federal food assistance programs that are meant to lower the prevalence of food insecurity and hunger. The goal of EHC! is to improve the levels of food security and nutrition among Connecticut families while creating and supporting policies that move families toward self-sufficiency.
They offer Summer Meals Programs in partnership with the CT State Department of Education , Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP -formerly Food Stamps) as well as Supper programs and school breakfast program.
Caroline Cooke, Connecticut State Department of Education
Caroline Cooke is a Registered Dietitian that has been working at the Connecticut State Department of Education for the past two and a half years as the Summer Meals Coordinator, bringing together oversight of the Summer Food Service Program and Seamless Summer Option of the National School Lunch Program. Prior to joining the CSDE, Caroline was a Nutrition Consultant with the Connecticut Department of Public Health WIC Program. Between her work for the Connecticut WIC Program and the Summer Meals Programs, Caroline has over 16 years of experience working in federal Child Nutrition Programs administered by the United States Department of Agriculture. Caroline is the mother of a beautiful four-year-old-son, who inspires her daily to focus her interest in maternal and child nutrition into improving the health and development of Connecticuts youngest residents.
