Housing Notice 2020-04, “Electronic Signature, Transmission, and Storage – Guidance for Multifamily Assisted Housing Industry Partners.” provides guidance on acceptable procedures for use of electronic signatures and the transmission and storage of documents and files.
During this webinar we will:
• Analyze the content of this notice with the intent of identifying what it permits HUD’s multifamily industry partners to do in re to the use of electronic signatures and electronic file transmission and retention.
• Discuss how this guidance changes information and protocols contained in Questions and Answers for Office of Multifamily Housing Stakeholders Coronavirus (COVID-19).
• Summarize the state laws in New England which impact the use of electronic signatures and the transmission and storage of documents and files, including whether state laws recognize electronic signatures and security requirements for written information which contains personal data, as well as federal laws mentioned in the notice.
• Address the practical components and implementation of electronic signatures and transmission, including avoiding Fair Housing related pitfalls, using what we have learned during COVID-19 as a case study.
