Trainer:  Deb Piltch

Harassment takes place in the workplaces and living environments we manage, including:

  • Harassment between employees (both managers and co-workers, whether paid or not, such as interns)
  • Harassment between employees and contractors, agents, vendors
  • Harassment between employees and residents (and their visitors); and
  • Harassment between residents (and their visitors)

Companies must be committed to cultivating a respectful workplace and seek to ensure inappropriate and harassing behavior is not a part of the work environment.  To achieve this, anti-harassment training is mandated  in some states, and is recommended by government agencies, including HUD, and business groups as an effective tool to reduce incidents and avoid costly lawsuits.  This class will review definitions of harassment, including sexual harassment and provides guidance on when, where, and how harassment can take place. During the training, participants will engage in activities to ensure they understand, and can successfully navigate complex and difficult situations.  We will focus on the varying roles people may find themselves in or perceived to be in: victim, observer, and harasser. We will also discuss the responsibility of supervisors, and the importance of knowing company policies and protocols, and reporting mechanisms.
