Communication is a skill and an art – especially when it comes to having to communicate complicated issues (“My EIV report said what?”), lease violations (“What do you mean I can’t hang a deer in my apartment?”), safety concerns (“Why can’t I use my blow dryer to defrost my refrigerator? That’s how my mom taught me.”), and delicate situations (“My boyfriend does not live here – he just visits every night.”) to the resident of an affordable housing property. With tips on how to show empathy, keep your cool, stick to the facts, and listen, participants will learn how to come out an ally instead of an adversary to those residents that have a “banana” in their ear.
